Sculpteo adds FDM 3D printing to service offering

Sculpteo is launching a new fused deposition modelling (FDM) manufacturing capability as part of its service offering.

The addition of FDM complements the existing powder bed and resin 3D printing equipment being run by Sculpteo.

Sculpteo will be able to print parts in seven materials with the FDM capability, and has described FDM technology as one that is able to bring gains in 'volume, price and speed.'

With FDM technology, Sculpteo believes it will be better able to meet the specific industrial needs of some customers across a wide range of sectors and applications.

The introduction of FDM will 'broaden manufacturing possibilities,' per Sculpteo, particularly for projects requiring 'larger parts, rapid iterations or cost optimisation.' The variety of materials also makes it possible to meet specific constraints, such as flexibility, fire resistance or protection against electrostatic discharge, the company says.

Among the available FDM materials as part of Sculpteo's offering are PLA, ABS, TPU, Flame-retardant PETG, TPU ESD, Recycled PET, and PETG ESD.

Alexandre d’Orsetti, CEO of Sculpteo, said: “Filament 3D printing is now a widely accessible technology, but using it in an industrial environment requires mastery of the entire manufacturing process. With this new offer, our goal is to put this technology at the service of professional projects, giving our customers the materials, technologies and support suited to their needs.”

Last month, Sculpteo revealed that it has designed and manufactured custom protective feet for Plum’ Case guitar cases by Luxbag.
